How it all began... |

Radiomon started out as a crazy idea I
(Sueko Kimura) got in the middle of February 2007. I really liked this one podcast I listened to—well, the only one I listened to—called MuggleCast. It was a Harry Potter podcast from the site Mugglenet, and it was a group of around five to six people discussing theories on Harry Potter, analyzing chapters and characters from the books, talking about the fandom (pairings, etc), what they think of the movies… all sorts of stuff. And I really enjoyed it. I was listening to the discussions and going, "Oh, that makes perfect sense!" It made me feel part of the fandom again. Harry Potter was probably the first fandom I ever got into. I read the books in fifth grade, and when I first got Internet in seventh grade all I did was look up Harry Potter stuff, or talk about it on forums. It was such a huge part of my life, and though I don't enjoy it as much as I once did I still love it. I could never not like Harry Potter, or the fandom. MuggleCast makes me remember everything I love about the books and the community of fans. So… why not have a Digimon podcast that did the same thing? A lot of people like Digimon, even if they are quiet about it. I'm sure lots of people would love to express their opinion of the show, manga, movies, video games, merchandise, fandom… It could help revive the community, unite everyone, and help us remember why we love Digimon so much. As Mippa liked to put it, it would help keep the spirit of Digimon alive. Okay, so at the time I thought this up, on the weekend in the middle of February 2007, I thought it was a pretty silly idea. If I told anyone about it they'd think I was crazy—plus not many people even know what a podcast is. But I sort of blabbed the idea anyway to TsukasaTK on IM the next day, and he actually liked the idea. True, maybe he was just being nice, but then I blabbed to someone else and they liked the idea too. Maybe this wasn't a stupid idea. Then I told Susanna and she just adored the idea! And then she went on about all we could do on the show and… wow, we were actually going to make a Digimon podcast! DigiCast was the first name we got; no, that was totally not taken from the name MuggleCast at all. *cough* Then when we were debating ideas, it was decided that due to length there should be two shows, one for discussion and one for the interactive things we wanted to do, like fan submitted things and such. So DigiCast became the name of the discussion show and Radiomon became the name for the interactive show. Mippa was added onto Radiomon and together Susanna, Mippa and I became the main hosts of Radiomon and DigiCast! But in a show that deals with the fans, and what they submit and what they say, are there really any hosts at all? |
