DigiCast Form

Joining the show

Would you like to be on DigiCast? Yay! But there's a few guidelines you should try to meet before we let you on the show.

  • First off, you should e-mail us at digipodcast@gmail.com that you are interested about being on DigiCast, and download Skype. It works just like a messenger and is pretty easy to use. You will, of course, need to own a working mic on the computer. If you really can't get a mic though, e-mail us and we can try and figure something out.
  • DigiCast is a discussion podcast, so you need to be able to…have a conversation. xD Don't just go on the show and be all, "Yeah… uh huh…" Share your opinion! Contribute! Even if you think it's silly, or it goes against the other people's thoughts. These are the sort of things that keep the conversation alive. It's okay if you are shy. Talk to the people on the show beforehand and get friendly with them first, so it's easier talking on the show.
  • It is important that when you go on the show you speak clearly and loudly. When we record the show make sure there is no background noise or echoing from speakers (you might need to use headphones/headset if you can't get the echo to go away). Enunciate words properly, don't talk really fast, and speak in a calm voice (not a scratchy nervous one). It's weird having to talk for the first time, so try practicing beforehand by recording yourself and playing it back or chatting through MSN by talking, to get used to it. Your English has to be really clear too. It's okay if you have an accent, or it's not your first language, since we are all from all over the world and have accents too. But at the same time you have to speak clearly enough so we can understand what you're saying, and everyone else can too.
  • When you are on the show, you must respect everyone's point of view. You cannot make fun of someone for having a different opinion than you do. Don't go on the show and say, "Davis and Kari SUCK!" Not everyone has to like the pairing, but if you aren't going to be mature about it you can't be on the show. It would be better to say something like, "I don't like Davis/Kari because Davis just has a silly crush on her, and a relationship can't be based on that." A statement like that contributes to the conversation and we can all express our feelings and have friendly debate.
  • You need to be savvy with Japanese terms. Don't freak out now, this means you need to just know the Digimon names in Japanese (like Tai Kamiya is Taichi Yagami) and a few other things. That's because the Japanese dub is considered canon, as it's the original and all that good stuff, and when we really get into discussion there are things that aren't clear in the English dub. Also, some people *cough*me*cough* only use most of the Japanese names. But don't make this be the reason you don't want to be on the show: refresh yourself on the Japanese dub by reading this quick thing I made up. And we will explain things on the show if they are different than the English Dub so if you haven't seen it at all it's okay. You pretty much just need to know people's names, kay. xD
  • Be poliet to everyone's thoughts and opinions. Don't bad mouth anyone or any show or anything. If you are goint to be rude you can't be on the show. Also use appropriate language—nothing beyond the word "damn" please! This is a show for all ages, as the show itself is for all ages. It's okay if you swear a little bit out of habit because I can edit it out later, but don't think you can swear all you want to either. It would be better if you don't at all or at least hold it back. (I know for some of us it's a habit... but don't just go saying the f-word the whole time please. -_-).
If you think you can follow all that please e-mail digipodcast@gmail.com this quick little form so I can help organize show times and topics. Please fill the whole thing out.

Name: The one that Sueko Kimura would know you by. But if we haven't met before just put whatever name, lol.

Username: The name you'd like to be known as on the show. Example: If you were on the DS forums as Takuya-Fan02 but don't want to be called that on the show, put the name you'd like to be called on the show (like Breanna).

Skype Username: Er, yeah. If you can't get Skype, e-mail me and we can figure something out.

Location: Where you live. I understand some people don't like to give out this kind of thing but I actually need to know where you live. Just give me your country and the closest major/big/famous city you live by. I won't give this information to anyone else if you wish to keep it private (and it's not going to be said on the show…unless you say it xD). I need to know it though because of time difference: people on the show will literally be from all over the world, from America to England to Japan to Brazil… and I have to know where you live so I can figure out the time to record the show, so we can all talk together at a nice time (like, uh, not 3AM xD).

Time: What time and day of the week will you be able to talk on the show?

How Much Digimon You Know: This basically means which seasons of Digimon you've watched, what movies you've seen, what manga you've read… anything like that. Also, something like "I've seen the first three seasons, though I haven't watched Tamers in a long time so don't remember much of it," would be really helpful to. This is to judge how familiar you are with the whole Digimon thing, heh.

Favorite Digimon Stuff & Main Interests: This refers to your favorite seasons, or video games, or songs, or characters, or whatever. That way, if the show topic will mainly be on Frontier and I know you like Frontier a lot I can contact you and get you on the show. Yaoi fan, rivalry fan, evil-Digi fan, WHATEVER.

Dislikes: So I know when to get you on the show when we want to rant. Er, joking. xD Lol, least favorite characters and such~ (And villains don't count…most of us hate them. But if you found Myotismon REALLY annoying or something, put it here). Of course, I hope this list is smaller than the favorite ones. ^^;; Just so I know not to put you on a Frontier episode if you don't like Frontier, heh.

Fandom Stuff: Do you write Digimon fanfiction, do fan art, rpg, or just talk to people about the show…what? No, this isn't so you can advertise your fanfiction stories to me, but sometimes we will discuss fandom stuff so this is important to know too. And you can submit stuff to Radiomon too~

Likes / Dislikes of the Fandom: Do you love how most of the Digimon fans are "older" and mature, unlike other fandome? Or can you not seem to find any decent “Takari” fanfics and it's really bugging you? Yeah, put it here too. ^^;;

Dubs You've Seen: Are you only aware of the English dub? Do you know a bit about the Japanese dub? Perhaps you've actually watched that. Or maybe you're from Chile and saw the Spanish dub—please put it here. And make a note of how much you know of the English & Japanese dubs, since those are the "main ones."

Other Fandom: Sometimes on the show we have debates on Digimon verses another show, like… Death Note or something. : D;; So list some other animes, books, television shows, or whatever that you are a fan of. That way if we can find some… Death Note fans or something we can have a part talking about Digimon vs. Death Note! (Okay, probably not Death Note , but I'm in a L mood. ^^;; It's an example!)

Savers: We'll have a separate section on the show devoted to Savers. It's separate from the rest of the show since not a lot of people watch it, so they can choose to skip over it if they want. If you would like to participate in the Savers discussion, put it here.

Input, Questions, Comments: Anything you'd like to see/talk about on the show? Would you like to have a discussion on the Runaway Locomon movie, or on Tai's and Matt's rivalry…what? If you can't think of anything don't worry about it. ^^

That's it! Wait, no, I lied. It would also be nice if you sent us a short audio clip of yourself saying something… anything… well, PG would be nice… about ten minutes, lol. xD And then fill this out and e-mail it to
digipodcast@gmail.com. Hope to see you on the show! ^^ And sorry it was so long : D;;
