So you are wondering how I started this website, right?
I first watched Digimon when it came out, whenever that was. But I was probably
10 or something at that time, maybe 12 even. I fell in love with that show, and
couldn't stop watching it. I also started to tape Digimon on video each morning
it was played. I didn't think too much about anything but watching the show, cos
hey, at that age what else could I do? Make a website? That only seemed like the
number one hard thing to do since I probably didn't know about the internet.
However, the bad news was I never got the chance to watch Tamers and Frontier. I
don't even recalling them airing on TV. I was very much a huge fan of Digimon
Adventure and Zero Two. It wasn't until 2005 that I really got back into
watching Digimon and felt inspired to create a website for it. At that time, I
only watched the first two seasons.
Around the middle of 2005, I had already created over 10 sites which are misc on
the web, and I thought I could just make a small site about Digimon and put a
few screenshots on it, and make it like a collective or something. I didn't
think about getting a domain or anything.
So I began my journey with Digimon Spirit. I didn't know why I wanted to give
that name, I guess because Digimon gave me a feeling that it had spirit, and I
wanted to include that on my website. I created a simple layout with a few
pictures of Zero Two, it wasn't particularly the best as I didn't really attempt
to make a full layout on my own. I hosted that with my website Sleeping Winds at
that time. It was all good, and my fantastic amazing friend, which I call her
twin sister, and Kari, she helped me every step of the way. When I began
this site, there were probably 10 visitors each day max. Kari always visited
everyday and enjoyed it so much. I guess I kept this site going as much as I
could for Kari, because I tend to slack off with websites. The 10 sites I've
made previously have all stopped being updated.
But something was different about Digimon Spirit. I felt that it was a topic
that people would search for, and find easily. I also remembered I spent hours,
maybe days trying to find a good multimedia website on Digimon that had all the
screenshots, but I failed to find any, the ones I found had a few episodes, and
others said were "coming soon" but it stayed like that for months. I always tell
myself "If you want something done, then do it yourself", so I wanted to focus
Digimon Spirit on lots of pictures and multimedia. Because that was always my
favourite part of a website.
When my host with Talkhost went down because I had to post on their forum, I had
to switch host for Digimon Spirit. That was then hosted on Freewebtown, where
the link was:
http://www.freewebtown.com/digimonspirit again Kari was an everyday visitor
and I couldn't be happier to have her support. Because DS was hosted on a free
server without a domain, it was quite hard to find. I only had about 10 episode
pictures then and hardly any media, so I thought about would I keep the site? Or
would I just leave it and not update it at all? I had a few thoughts but just
left it there for a while.
Very soon, I got really lucky to watch Frontier because someone was kind enough
to send it to me. I enjoyed it so much, that was what made me love Digimon even
more. Soon, I found a bittorrent for Tamers in english and downloaded that. You
can imagine, when I saw those two seasons I immediately knew what I must do.
Remake my fansite about Digimon the best that I could and devote a part of my
life to it. I had to, Digimon just became such a special show. I couldn't be
happier to have seen it.
I thought that freewebtown was not the place to host DS, and I had just started
to use Paypal to buy things online. I knew that Talkhost had cheap domains for
about $9.95 each year, so I registered a domain. I also found a free host at
Freewebdot (which is no longer free) that could host my site with 3GB of space
and 50GB of bandwidth. At that time, that was the best possible news for me,
ever. Since my old hosts gave me over 60 times smaller.
I was happily hosted at Freewebdot, for some time. I didn't like the simple
looking old layout so I decided to put my photoshop skills into use and whip up
a layout for this site. Of course, it worked out. I don't remember how but one
afternoon I was coming home from school and I had a picture in my mind, what my
new layout would look like. Green, with Digimon Frontier characters, I could
seriously see every part of it, maybe my imagination is quite good. I felt that
was my motivation so I began working on the new layout. Soon, it was done and
became the layout for DS for the first year almost. The green one with Digimon
Frontier.
When I felt that I had more money, I began looking for a new host. That time, I
found SurpassHosting, which was quite good. It gave me 5Gb of space and 250GB of
bandwidth. I soon bought a year worth of hosting which was $6/month and during
it, I started to make more pictures, and added songs, media, video clips, and
then something hit me. Episodes. Wouldn't it be awesome if I could upload
episodes for people? Since that's something I've never seen. I decided to try,
and updated two. Soon, I got all type of requests from people asking me to
upload more. I thought why not. I had all the Frontier episodes up, and they
would be direct links until possibly middle of the month when bandwidth reached
to 80% and I'd switch it over to Megaupload links cos a few close friends of
mine helped me upload them.
I had some very nice and kind people help me a while later. Terran and
Disco_Rabbit helped with the other season episodes since I couldn't make them at
that time. They happily uploaded some links for me, which were all on the
website.
A few months later, I grew tired of bandwidth constantly running out and the
site not working for a few days. That must have been quite annoying, so I
started to search for a bigger host, yet still get a reasonable price. That's
when I discovered Servage. I use that host and it gives me a large amount of
space, 250GB and 2100GB of bandwidth. So far that host has been very good, the
speed and support is all fantastic. And I hope it stays that way.
I also must say that YOU- the visitors, my dear friends, are the people who keep
this site alive. I am a person who can slack off, there have been 10 sites I've
abandoned and never updated, yet Digimon is one of the sites I cannot do that.
Why? You! You visiting, sending me comments, messages, appreciation emails and
such helps motivate me on thinking of new things for this site, making it bigger
than what it is now, and so much more. So thank you! Without the visitors, this
website would have nothing. I truly mean that.
I love Digimon, that's why I made this site. I started off having no plans, yet
now I do. I want to bring close a group of people who appreciates this show.
Nothing else. I want people to be able to still find sources on their favourite
show, like I wanted to. To have those nostaligia feelings, to know that Digimon
is still there. To once again be able to watch their favourite episode. I also
plan on continuing to update this site until I probably get old or something. I
hope it will be around for a long time!

Yolei: Don't worry,
it's never too late to go out and make your dreams become a reality!
TK: The darkness has not been conquered, and it will continue to
fight against the light forever. But as long as people remember to
follow their dreams, evil will be kept at bay. And on days like
today, it's hard to see any darkness anywhere. Now it's up to our
children, and to children everywhere, to follow their dreams. Who
knows where they'll end up... But the only way to find out is to
take the first step into adventure.
Davis: Could you kids be a little more negative? The only person who
can take your dreams away is you; by giving up on them!
Oikawa: Thank you Cody. If only I'd had your optimism I might not
have ended up with such a sad fate. But I was unable to maintain
hope through the bad times and I drowned in my despair. If only I'd
had friends like you, or allowed myself to have them.
