Love The Angel Of Sincerity
Prologue
“Mimi wake up!” Melina, Mimi’s room mate exclaimed as she shook her gently,
Mimi slowly opened her eyes as she blinked, “huh?”
Melina’s worried eyes searched Mimi’s for a brief moment.
Mimi groaned and rolled over so her back was facing Melina, and pulled the sheets over her head. “You have no respect for sleep, it’s Saturday; I don’t work on Saturdays,” she grumbled sleepily.
Melina angrily yanked the sheets off Mimi’s head, “MIMI! Baz Newman’s agent is on the phone for you, I think it’s about the audition you made for Romeo and Juliet!”
Mimi jumped to her feet, “What! Why didn’t you say so in the first place!” she panicked as she ran to the phone receiver.
“Hello Mimi speaking,” Mimi said in posh voice, as her heart raced.
“Hi, I’m ringing to inform you, that we have accepted of your audition for the role Juliet, in our new movie, if you’re still interested?” The man said seriously.
Mimi’s eyes glimmered with excitement, “I’d love to!” she exclaimed.
“Great well we will fly you out to Shibuya in 3 weeks to start shooting the fir-”
“Shibuya!” Mimi shouted as she almost dropped the phone.
“You didn’t know it was in Shibuya, Japan?”
“No...” Mimi groaned as she rubbed her forehead.
There was a slight pause, “Are you still interested in the movie?” he asked once more.
Mimi raised one eyebrow, ‘I’m not going to let the past meddle with my future, I’m over the whole cheating thing, Matt did 5 years ago…aren’t I?’ Biting down on her bottom lip she replied, “I’m still in.”
“Great, well I’ll continue then…” the man replied happily.
Hanging up the phone shortly after, she walked over to her window looking over at Liberty Island and the infamous statue in the center of it.
From her veranda she could still see the huge billboard advertising her latest movie, 'The Notebook.' It still amazed her how obsessive the media was, and how they were already claiming her to be the upcoming Nicole Kidman; despite the fact she had only featured in two films. There was still so much she wished to learn, stardom wasn't exactly at the top of the list...Well not to the point where she couldn't leave her apartment without having a million photos taken.
Slowly a frown crossed her lips as she sighed, walking back over the couch, staring blankly at the tv screen, 'Life can be so frustrating...'
Noticing this Melina smiled slightly, “Meems you have to press the button on the tv to see anything,” she joked, as Mimi smiled sadly. Blinking in confusion Melina sat down next to Mimi, placing a friendly hand on her shoulder, “What’s wrong Meems?”
Mimi dropped her head, “I got the lead role I wanted in Romeo and Juliet, but…”
“THAT’S GREAT!” Melina exclaimed happily but then frowned, “But? But what? There should be NO but’s!”
Mimi sighed “It’s being shot in Shibuya, Japan.”
Melina covered her mouth in shock, “Isn’t that wher-”
“Yeah” Mimi interrupted.
“Maybe you two can make up,” Melina suggested hopefully.
Mimi got to her feet, “I think that I would forgive him, but he hasn’t emailed me in a year. What’s worse is that he could just repeat what happened last time, even if I forgive him.”
“Do you love him still?”
“What!” Mimi exclaimed surprisedly.
“Do you?” Melina persisted.
'How can I even think that it's possible...' Mimi thought to herself as she looked at the floor. “Uhh...I don't know...” she whispered distantly as she sighed; “Maybe...”
Melina smiled “Well there’s only one thing to do…”
“What’s that?”
“Confront him.”
Chapter 1: Treading on Ancient History
Mimi smiled as she stepped out of her new yellow porsche and looked at her home town as she leant back against her car and raised her right arm to shield her eyes from the sun’s warm glare; “I’m back.” Locking her car she turned and ventured into the apartment building called the Odiaba Mansion; where she used to live although it wasn’t anything like a mansion.
Her father was always calling the building owner to complain about the water system which liked to give hot water out if the cold water tap and cold out of the hot water tap and so forth and if it wasn’t that, her father was complaining about the wild parties their next door neighbours always had before they moved away.
Mimi laughed, although it made living there a nightmare it was a fun one, and now Sora and Tai owned an apartment there.
Walking up the stairs Mimi heard a scream as she quickened her pace, ‘Was that Sora’s voice!’ she asked herself as she sprinted as fast as a lady in high heels could up stairs.
“Taichi Kamaya! You come back here and give me my keys this instant!” Sora shouted as Mimi reached the door and knocked on it as she smiled in relief, i‘At least she’s alright.’/i
“I’ll get it!” Tai called as Mimi heard a rush of footsteps towards the door.
“Mimi!” Tai exclaimed surprisedly as they smiled at each other,
“Hey there, I thought since I was in the country I’d drop by and say hi!” Mimi said with a smile, as she tilted her to the side.
“I can’t believe it’s you!” he whispered in shock as he lunged forward almost knocking her off her feet as he caught her in his embrace; before letting her inside the apartment.
“Who is it Tai?” Sora called as she walked into the lounge room.
“Meems!” she exclaimed as a huge smile spread across her face and she rushed to hug her friend,
Tai sat on the sofa “When did you get back?” he asked curiously as he fiddled with a cushion.
“Today, I came to shoot a movie. I’m playing Juliet in Baz Newman’s version of Romeo and Juliet, its being shot in Shibuya,” she replied as she sat down on the recliner.
Tai and Sora’s mouths dropped, “Oh my gosh!” Sora squeaked excitedly.
“Wow way to go meems!” Tai exclaimed as he smiled.
“Sooo are you two going to fill me in to the goss around here or will I have to worm it out of people?” she joked as she looked at them in great anticipation.
Sora smiled, “Well Davis and Kari & Yolie and Ken are dating. Izzy owns his own internet company. Joe works in the Odiaba hospital as a doctor, T.k is travelling the world for free as he’s a pilot but he’s home at the moment and Matt’s band is huge they have a concert in 2 weeks that’s sold out and the hall they are performing in holds 25,000 people!”
Mimi’s eyes glittered mysteriously, as she smiled, “Well everyone seems to have done well in my absence…even Davis and that’s saying something! But what about you two?”
Tai and Sora blushed, “Well we’re engaged,” Sora said excitedly as she bounced up and down,
Mimi squeaked, “Really!”
They nodded as Mimi hugged them both, “This is so cute!” she squeaked again as she kissed them both on the cheek.
Tai blushed, “Whoa where did that come from?”
“It’s just my little gift to the world!” Mimi giggled remembering back to the time when she told Joe and the Digimon that same thing.
Tai laughed and dropped his head, “I’ve heard that before.”
Forcing a smile Mimi tilted her head to the side as she crossed her legs, 'Matt’s doing well then…I wonder if he’s seeing that Jun girl still…’ she thought bitterly.
“I see you’re not wearing one pink piece of clothing;” Sora noted as Mimi laughed.
“God no!” She laughed, “I’m so over it. I look back at the pictures of me in that pink cowgirl dress and I think I’ll be sick each time.”
Glancing across at Mimi Tai looked at her curiously. “So have you gone and visited Matt yet? He misses you, you know…” Tai said sadly as he was pinched by Sora “HEY WHY’D YOU DO THAT!” he cried in frustration.
“YOU’RE SO INSENSITIVE AT TIMES TAI!” Sora snapped as she glared at her fiancée.
Furrowing his eyebrows Tai glared back at her, “WHY’RE YOU GIVING ME THAT LOOK? I DIDN’T SAY ANYTHING BAD!” he fought back.
Mimi turned away as she lowered her gaze; content with just watching her black stilettos bob up and down on her slender feet. “Its ok don’t worry about it Sora,” she whispered as she looked back up at the couple as she forced a fake go-happy expression.
“Mimi you don’t need to make things up…” Sora replied quietly as she walked over to her best friend and placed a hand on her shoulder, “It’s ok.”
Pointing an accusing finger at his fiancée Tai glared at Sora once again; “Hah! And you said I’m insensitive!”
Sighing tiredly Sora rolled her eyes as Mimi laughed light-heartedly.
Falling silent for a moment Mimi gripped at her dress, not looking up at her friends. “I still care about him I know it’s insane but, I can’t help it…” she stated slowly as her lips trembled with each word; “I still feel the pain. The pain from what he did to me. Part of me wants him to feel that pain himself…but then when I think about it more I hate myself for harbouring such terrible thoughts...”
Sora and Tai looked at each other sadly as Tai took Sora’s seat as she walked over to the kitchen bench to get a glass of water for Mimi.
“Look at me depressing you both with my sad dying love life…” Mimi noted as she tried to smile.
“Don’t say such a thing; that’s what friends are for, come here meems,” Tai said as he embraced her.
“I hate him for doing this to me…” Mimi choked as she breathed heavily holding back tears.
Sora watched on as she rubbed her own arms unknowingly while standing in the connected kitchen. “Oh Mimi, If only you could talk to him for 10 minutes you’d see that he still loves you. He never really stopped. I’m sure he wouldn’t risk hurting you again, even if his life depended on it,” She whispered.
flashback
“Sora before you go, have you- oh don’t worry...” Matt mumbled
“What is it? Tell me.”
“If you cheated on some one…is it possible for them to forgive you? Even if she moved away because of it?”
Sora knew where this was going, “Matt, you need to ask Mimi that for yourself. How long has it been since you two talked?”
“Ages I’ve lost count of how many days…”
“Oh Matt you have to talk to her soon, or you might loose her forever,”
“But ah, I-um”
“I know Matt, it’s not like you cheated on her deliberately…Jun knew you were drunk and took advantage of you, the stupid girl knew she could never pry you away from Mimi when you were fully conscious.”
“I don’t deserve to be forgiven by her. She deserves better than this.”
“Don’t say that Matt! You just need to make it up to her.”
“How?”
Sora paused, “You have to figure that out on your own…”
end of flashback
10 minutes later Mimi had calmed down and sat quietly on Tai and Sora’s sofa.
“She’s really depressed Tai, what can we do?” Sora whispered to Tai as the stood in the kitchen out of earshot,
Tai thought for a brief moment, “I know a way!” he exclaimed and walked over to Mimi.
“Hey meems,” he started as she turned around to look at him and smiled slightly,
“Yes?”
“Why don’t you come to the Tokyo ball tomorrow night? It’s at the starlight tower,” Tai said as he sat down next to her.
Mimi sat thinking for a moment, ‘I’ve spent far too long sulking already. If he’s there…well I’ll deal with it if not, well I’ll just have an awesome night;’ She concluded silently. “Sure I’d like that,” she replied as she smiled slightly.
Tai and Sora smiled at each other.
“Great we’ll pick you up at 6pm, the ball starts at 7:30,” Sora added.
Mimi shook her head, “thanks but I’ll drive myself there, I remember the way.”
Minutes later Mimi left mentioning something about getting new clothes for tomorrow night, as soon as the door shut behind her Tai sprinted towards the phone, and punched in Matt’s mobile number.
“Hello?”
“Hello Matt this is Tai.”
“You’re selling Ties,”
“NO MY NAME IS TAI! CAN I SPEAK WITH MATT?”
“That’s strange I’ve had some one call here once before asking me if I wanted some ties and asking for Matt, that’s my grandson you know-”
“YES…” Tai sighed as he slapped his forehead.
“Hey grandma what did you answer my phone for!” Matt’s voice echoed in the other end of the phone.
She moved her hand slightly over the mouth piece, there is someone selling ties, and I’m talking to him about you.”
“OH! Give me that please. Thank-you!” Matt said as he snatched his phone rudely from her clutch.
“Tai is that you?”
“Yeah, I see your grandma hasn’t changed one bit…”
“yeah…”
“Anyway I was calling to tell you that Mimi’s back and she’s going to the Tokyo Ball tomorrow night!”
“Really?”
“Yeah but be careful she’s really upset still.”
“Oh…”
“You’re still coming right?”
“Yeah you can bet on it. I wouldn’t miss a chance in the world to see her again…”
“Ok well I’ll see you tomorrow then.”
“Yeah. Bye.” Matt said happily as he pressed the cancel button on his mobile and smiled.
The Next Night
Mimi sat patiently in her strapless Gucci dress as 2 ladies did her hair and make-up.
“If you don’t mind my asking, what’s the big occasion?” The hair stylist asked curiously,
Mimi smiled nervously, “I’m going to the Tokyo ball,”
“Really, how exciting.” She replied
“Yeah…” Mimi mumbled as she played with her dress nervously
The make-up artist looked into Mimi’s eyes, “You look sad, what’s wrong?”
Mimi sat silently for a moment, contemplating whether she could confide her thoughts with them.
“Done,” the two ladies said in unison, as Mimi got to her feet and looked out at the Tokyo city below her hotel room.
“I might see my ex-boyfriend there,” Mimi started to sniffle, holding back tears so she didn’t ruin her make-up, “I have almost everything in life. Money, fans, a wonderful job, but all that means nothing to me without love…his love…”
One of the hair stylists cried silently, “That’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard.”
Mimi smiled, “Thank-you.”
Matt walked around in circles, in his hotel room in Tokyo city, “I don’t know if I can do this, it’ll only make things worse. Why on earth would she want me back?”
“Matt don’t be so negative!” T.k said angrily as he walked over,
“Why shouldn’t I! I was a jerk and got bloody drunk, that fricking night ruined our lives, and this could be just as bad an-” Matt started as T.k slapped him across the face,
“Snap out of it Matt, if you don’t take this chance you will most probably regret it your whole life and you will always be thinking, ‘what if’ about the whole situation!” T.k shouted.
Matt rubbed his cheek, “You’re right…I have to go…”
Chapter 2: Life is a Musical
Looking at his watch Matt as he sighed dejectedly.
“Relax Matt, she’ll come…”
“BUT SHE SHOULD BE HERE BY NOW IF SHE’S COMING!” Matt snapped angrily as he glared at his bestfriend. Hesitantly looking away before meeting Tai’s shocked eyes he sighed, “Sorry for snapping. It’s just that I really don’t think she’ll come, I feel as if you’re giving me false hope you know...” he mumbled as he looked away grumpily.
Tai smiled warmly as he placed a firm hand on his friends’ shoulder. “Relax,” re replied as a giant smirk crossed his lips, his gaze directed at a stunning brunette, wearing a flowing black strapless dress.
Matt turned around confusedly as his eyes clashed with hers for a second before she quickly looked away, ‘One glance and she makes my knees buckle. That’s her, that’s Mimi.’ Smiling nervously hobbled over to her.
Sora and Tai observed from a distance. “Is it just me or is Matt walking like he has thorns in his shoes?” Sora whispered to her fiancée.
“Poor bugger must be nervous,” Tai replied as he laughed nervously for his best friend.
“Matt…” Mimi mumbled nervously as she hesitantly looked into his eyes.
“Would you like to dance?” Matt asked nervously as he tucked his now sweaty hands into his pockets.
Mimi shook her head nervously. “I’d actually prefer to talk outside first,” she replied as she turned towards the balcony, looking back over her shoulder to ensure he was in agreement before proceeding outside.
Sora and Tai looked at each other knowingly.
Tai looked at Mimi once more before whispering, “I think they’re going to try sort things out...”
Sora laughed at his comment, “I believe so too.”
Turning to Mimi as they reached the balcony, Matt nervously freed his hands from his trousers as he leant forward against the railing. “I never got to tell you how sorry I am about what happened a while back Meems you see I wa-” he started as Mimi placed a finger delicately on his lips; shaking her head as her eyes filled up with tears.
“I don’t want to hear it Matt…Words can be said and not meant, look at me I act for heavens sake, do you think I mean half the things I get paid to say?” she asked as he remained silent. “No, that’s why I don’t want to hear about it,” she muttered as she moved her finger away.
“Mimi I-”
“NO MATT, please just stop ok,” she cut in a sternly, her eyes narrowing frustratedly.
“Then why did you even come when you knew I might be here?” he snapped.
Faint tears trickled down her pretty face as she looked away, “I don’t know the answer to that. All I know is that I’m just sick of excuses; I need you to convince me naturally not with rehearsed speeches.” Turning on her heel she quickly exited the balcony as fast as she entered it.
Rubbing his cold arms Matt bit the inside of his mouth in frustration. “I’ll prove it to her,” he whispered to himself as he walked inside, through the crowd and towards the stage where a band was playing.
Upon spotting Mimi’s state; Sora rushed to her side and embraced her, “Oh Mimi…”
“Hey dude, that’s my microphone!” the lead singer yelled as Matt snatched the microphone from its stand.
“Sorry I have to borrow this to tell some one that I care about them,” Matt replied honestly.
Upon hearing this Mimi turned around in confusion. ‘What’s he doing?’
“I’m up here because I’ve hurt the only woman I’ve ever really loved. Since we broke up I’ve felt nothing except heartbreak, regret, and emptiness…I feel incomplete but she’s here tonight. I know I’m pushing my luck as I know I don’t deserve to be forgiven by someone so sincere; but I will do whatever I have to win back her love and trust…Mimi, I’m talking to you…”
Tai looked at Sora scaredy, “I forgot my ear plugs! What do I do if she sings?” he squealed jokingly as Sora hit him playfully on the head.
Wiping her tears away as she glared at the blonde haired rockstar she turned and immediately ran out of the building in shame.
“Tachikawa has left the building!” the singer announced teasingly over the microphone as Matt jumped off the stage chasing after Mimi.
“MIMI!” he called as soon as she came into sight, just meters from the garden.
Stopping in her tracks she turned around to face him; her tear stained cheeks illuminated by the full moon in the sky above. “You have no clue how to apologise!” she cried in frustration and embarrassment, “You just exposed our problems to people we don’t know. The media is present at this function Matt!” she sobbed, “You…complete idiot…” she hiccupped as she tried to calm herself down.
“So?” he replied simply.
Glaring at him she shook her head, “So just because you don’t mind public exposure it’s meant to be fine for me too?”
A few of paparazzi’s snuck into nearby bushes, all of them eager to get a snapshot of the rocker and the famous actress feuding in public.
Mimi shook her head as she wiped her tear stained cheeks, “I’ve made so many mistakes already…I don’t want to make things worse, I don’t want it leaking into the only stable thing in my life; my career.”
Matt walked forward and held her close, “We’ve both made mistakes, I makes us human. I’m sorry though, I ju-just…I just didn’t know if I would have another opportunity to apologise. I can’t lose you again…”
Lights flickered from a nearby bush as the paparazzi’s jumped up taking photo’s of the two hugging.
Pushing Matt away instinctively, Mimi’s eyes widened in shock as she spotted the photographers.
“Don’t look at me! I didn’t invite them!” He yelled as he and Mimi started to run and shielded their faces with their hands.
“Hey is that Tom Cruise!” Tai called in a weird voice from the nearby window as a limousine pulled up nearby
The paparazzi quickly lost interest in Mimi and Matt as they raced towards the limousine.
Matt looked around the corner of the building. “I think we lost them…” he whispered thankfully as he smiled slightly and hugged her.
Looking up at him Mimi trembled, “Matt…”
Looking away so he wasn’t facing her, “Yeah…” he mumbled as he released her from the hug.
“I need time to think about what I need to say to you on this matter…”
Looking at her for long moments Matt nodded solemnly. “I-I…I understand,” he muttered as he walked past her, and towards the car park.
Mimi stood there for moments as she cried. ‘Why does this have to hurt so badly?’ she wondered as she took a step forward; stretching a hand out towards his distant figure and then bringing it back towards her chest as she dropped to he knees.
Chapter 3: Much Ado About Petals
“Is she a Capulet?” Romeo asked no one in particular as he stared into Mimi’s eyes as she looked sadly at him from the staircase.
A maid rushed over to her and followed her gaze, seeing it stop at Romeo she squeaked nervously. This caught Mimi’s attention as she told her “His name is Romeo, he’s the son of your father’s great enemy.”
Slowly Mimi turned and looked at Romeo in shock as her eyes filled up with tears.
Romeo walked away sadly with his friends. As Mimi raced through the house to watch him leave from her balcony.
“My only love sprung from my only hate, to early seemed unknown and know to hate, but it is birth of love to me, that I must love a loathed enemy,” Mimi proclaimed sadly as Romeo leaned on the back seat of the car watching her.
“AND CUT!” The director yelled as everyone clapped.
The actor who played Romeo walked over to Mimi smiling, “You were fantastic!”
She blushed, “So were you! Umm sorry I never did catch your name…”
“Oh sorry Alex, I’m Alex,” he replied as he flashed his toothy grin once more and left.
Mimi sighed as she watched him leave, before saying her goodbyes to her co-stars and producers for the day, and getting in her car.
--------------
Upon arriving home, I found a single red rose sitting on my doormat with a blue ribbon wrapped around it and an envelope beneath it. Smiling as I picked them up and opened her door to reveal her lounge room filled with white roses and the floor sprinkled with red rose petals, causing an overwhelming floral fragrance to sting my nostrils.
My eyes widened while my nose scrunched up due to the overwhelming scent of my apartment. “How on earth…” I started to mumble as she blinked countless times just gazing across her apartment at all the roses. Gasping in sudden realisation, I remembered the envelope I had picked up only moments earlier;
Mimi,
I miss you, I need you, I love you.
Y
P.S: I hope you like the white roses; I know they’re your favourite.
I blinked numerously after I finished reading the letter, “’Y’? Who’s ‘Y’ meant to be?” I wondered worriedly as I placed his letter on the petal covered counter. “He must be a stalker…or worse…a rapist” I noted as I trembled and raced to close my front door, sliding down the back of it and onto the wooden floorboards.
“Oh god, what should I do?” I asked no one in particular, as I paced around the room, “Maybe this is just a silly prank. Or it could be one of those estranged fans of mine.” I concluded as I paced back and forth, making a little trail from my movements. “Maybe he put cameras in my rooms so he could watch me,” I fearfully contemplated as I bit down on my lips; “he could be a pervert…so that could explain it…OH KAMI!” I whined as I clutched at my hair.
“Sora!” I called out in a panicked tone as I punched her number into my mobile and waited for the dial tone to end after what seemed like a century.
“Hi this is Tai.”
“Hi Tai I need to speak to Sora, is she there, this is important.”
“Are you ok?”
“I’m not sure…but I’m not dying if that’s what you mean...well not yet anyway.”
Tai laughed, “Hold on I’ll go get her.” The scuffing of feet sounded for the other end of the phone.
“Hi Meems, what’s up? Tai said you sounded worried about something.”
I looked at the many white stemmed roses in her living room, “You could say that.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Someone redecorated my apartment…”
“Huh.”
“They left me a note and covered my apartment floor with rose petals and stemmed roses, and they signed the note as someone called ‘Y’...it’s kinda freaky, I mean how did he know where my apartment was, let alone how to get into it…” I blurted out as I froze, “oh my god what if it’s not just a crazy ‘he’! What if it’s some crazy ‘she’!”
Sora sighed; “Take a deep breath Mimi,” she chimed “…in...and out…” she ordered sternly.
“Ok I’m a little better…” I admitted after a few moments of silence.
“Maybe you know them…”
I laughed, “I highly doubt it…this isn’t friendly; it’s downright FREAKY.”
“Do you want me to come over?” she asked worriedly.
Nodding I pursed my lips, “Is that alright?”
Sora laughed; “I’ll be there in twenty minutes or so, ok...”
“Thanks,” I whispered as I hung up and sat quietly on my coffee table in the centre of the room; the note from ‘Y’ sitting in my lap. ‘Who is this ‘Y’ person, is Sora right, is it possible that I know them?’ I wondered for a moment as I raised my eyebrows; “honestly would anyone who knows me be so strange though?”
“I RESENT THAT!”
Bolting upright the note fluttered to the ground as I tumbled off the coffee table while my eyes grew to the sizes of giant saucers. “Where are you!” I yelled as my legs trembled uncontrollably, threatening to collapse from beneath me as I reached for the nearest object and holding it up along side my face defensively, “I-I have a-” I paused as I looked at the object to discover that I was holding a lengthy universal remote control, “I have a remote and I’m not afraid to throw it!!”
The man laughed.
I instinctively tightened my grip on the universal remote in my hand. “I have good aim! I played netball for 5 years!” I shouted as my scarlet lips trembled; ‘Even though I never scored a point as they kept me on the sideline most of the time because I liked to run with the ball; not pass it…’ I added silently.
“Put it down Mimi it’s just me,” Matt whispered as he pushed open the window and the curtain covering it as he climbed into the room from my small veranda.
Gasping I dropped the remote along with my jaw as I gaped at him, “Y-You!”
Smiling sadly he nodded. “It seems I’m caught; I didn’t have time to leave…” he started as he moved nervously, “Now look before you ask; the thing is he knew you like ros-”
“Why were you on my veranda! Did you help this stalker, rapist, paedophile person put roses in here!” I boomed as I glared daggers at him.
Raising an eyebrow he looked at me oddly, “I’m not a stalker, a rapist or a paedophile for your information.”
“No you’re not…” I replied calmly as he nodded at my response; “You’re just a friend of a jerk who ruined my life!” I retorted.
Still nodding for a moment his eyes soon widened, “hey wait!”
Smirking I let my gaze drop to the floor, “So Matt was ‘Y’ then…I always forget that his full first name is Yamato…”
“He wanted to apologise for last night;” he replied hesitantly as he ran a hand through his shortly cropped black hair.
I remained silent as I looked up at him unsettledly.
Looking up at him Mimi trembled, “Matt…” ‘Why does this have to hurt so badly?’ she wondered as she took a step forward; stretching a hand out towards his distant figure and then bringing it back towards her chest as she dropped to he knees.
Pressing my eyes shut I fought back the pain from the previous night; “You can tell him that if he understood me last night he shouldn’t have done this. It’s just made it harder...” I whispered sadly as I slowly reopened my eyes and looked over at his friend Jacob.
“Sure,” he whispered as he walked past me and towards my front door. “Oh and this is for you too,” he added slowly as I looked over my shoulder to see him placing a small piece of cardboard paper on my kitchen bench, before opening the door to meet Sora’s surprised eyes as he walked right past her silently.
Sighing I walked over to the counter, picking up the piece of cardboard; ‘A masked ball tomorrow night? Geeze I come back to Japan and suddenly it’s gone all 1800’s on me’
“So I guess that answers the mystery surrounding the ‘Y’ person…” she drawled as she planted her hands on her hips and took in the scene before her, “Matt and Jacob did well; if they were going for the shocking effect.”
I scoffed, “That’s the understatement of the year…He’s asked me to this tomorrow night,” I replied as I handed her the invitation.
Sora thought for a second as she looked up at me from the piece of cardboard paper, “I think you should go.”
“Why would I? I’m scared,” I whimpered.
“Then don’t go,” she sighed; “I’m not quite sure what there is to be scared of though. I mean it just seems like he wants to take to time to make things up to you.”
“I suppose,” I agreed as I nodded whilst running a hand through my tussled locks.
Sora smiled, “I’m sure you want to be the alpha in this situation hun, and the only way to do that is to just go with the flow;” she paused, “but if it gets bad let me know…” she added quickly. “I think Tai has connections who could deal with him,” she added with a wink “If you catch my drift.”
Rolling my eyes I sighed as I walked over to the couch. “But what should I dress up as then?”
“Umm, a Police Woman, Sailor, Hawaiian Girl, Princess OH I GOT IT! A geisha!” Sora listed enthusiastically.
I sighed “A geisha is a great idea but what if he gets the wrong idea. I mean Geisha’s are meant to serve and entertain men…” I started as I raised an eyebrow, “I don’t want to do that; I mean we’re still pushing the friendship barrier at the moment, I don’t intend to serve or entertain him in the near future…even though he wants to climb over our barrier and run into the horizon…”
Sora laughed, “You like him still Meems, there’s nothing he can get wrong to do with that.”
I remained silent. ‘I don’t!’ my mind cried in frustration, ‘…So the only reason I get so hurt by him is because he’s a jerk…I don’t care about him…I don’t…’
“Mimi…”
Looking up into Sora’s eyes I sighed spacily; “It’s not as easy as you think it is to forgive him, what if he does it again o-”
Smack!
Rubbing my left cheek my eyes widened as I looked at my best friend nervously.
Sora glared at me, “He made a huge mistake and broke your heart, sure I understand that it’s hard to get over something like that, but he has changed a lot! You know that, and I know for a fact that he has learnt from his mistakes. He actually hasn’t dated anyone since you two broke up!”
I was speechless for long moments, ‘Matt has been single for 5 years…because of me…’
“Besides…You can just go to see what he has to say can’t you? I’m sure you can put up with him for one night,” Sora added, “I mean it can’t be worse than this,” she added as she held up a cut out article titled ’Tachikawa and Ishida Domestic at Ball’.
Sighing as I tore the article in half I took a deep breath, “...Yeah I suppose I could, I mean I have to deal with this; right? It’s already public so the quicker the better I guess.”
Nodding she smiled sightly; “I’ll be over your house tomorrow at 3pm with a kimono of mine that you can borrow ok?”
“You’re leaving already?” I inquired.
Giving me a sympathetic look Sora nodded once more. “Yeah I better it’s almost 6 and Tai will be looking for dinner,” she said with a laugh as she hugged me.
Laughing at this I felt my spirit lift, “Ok well tell him I’m sorry if I was rude on the phone earlier ok?”
“Ok, cya tomorrow then;” she replied as she slipped out the door.
Normal POV
Groaning Sora shook her head from side to side; ‘I’ll hit that Yamato Ishida for this…I said SHARE your feelings with her not/ SCARE her with them…geeze he has a lot to learn…’ she noted with a sigh as she unlocked her car and climbed in, remembering their phone call earlier the same morning;
“Sora I screwed things up badly this time;” Matt stated coldly, “I’m so stupid I need to think before I act…I really need to work on that…”
Sighing sympathetically she gripped the phone, “What did you do though?”
He remained silent for a moment; “I said ‘I understand’ and then left her there…”
Sora winced as she made an odd noise.
“Yeah I know it was childish…”
“-and stupid,” she added as she shook her head, “She might still want to be friends with you. Us girls like to have friendship before relationships and because you previously broke Mimi’s heart you’ve shattered that friendship and trust you two originally shared 5 years ago…So to her it just seems probably like you want a relationship or nothing at all since you just left her…”
Slapping his forehead he groaned, “Shit.”
“You just need to share your feelings with her Matt, just be open and don’t get all moody if she’s not ready because if you can’t wait for her to be ready then it’s clear to her…and the rest of us that you’re not that keen on working this out with her.
