Matt Ishida

Digimon Partner: Gabumon
Age: 11
Matt is the loner of the group and is the older brother of T.K hes is extremely protective of T.K and would put him self in danger to protect his younger brother, he is partnered up with gabumon,he seems to be just as hot-headed as tai and the two often argued earlier in the series. Matt is also a secretive loner. In the English adaptation, the two were half-brothers instead of full brothers. Matt's parents are divorced, and he and his father moved to Odaiba, where his father works at the Fuji TV Network, Inc. building. He is the bearer of the Crest of Friendship.

Matt served the role of a rival to Tai throughout the first season, which led to a large internal conflict at the end of the season as to whether or not Tai was a better older brother to T.K. than he was. He is the holder of the Crest of Friendship, which activated when Joe Kido had risked his life to save T.K. from a Veggiemon and was then being strangled by it. Matt remembered how he had treated Joe earlier for constantly making mistakes and keeping them both stuck working in a diner to pay off the bill for a meal, especially his accusation that Joe was making these mistakes on purpose. Realizing that, he also realized that he could not win his battles alone (a revelation that was finalized in his mind much later in the series) and needed the help of everyone, including Joe. Matt lived with his father, who divorced his mother a long time ago, separating him and his brother as well. He has one encounter with his mother which doesn't go well. Although T.K. was ecstatic to have his whole family together (if only for a minute), Matt refused to say much more than "Hi Mom," to her. This encounter unearths some lingering resentments in him that linger even after he returns to the Digital World.

Tai Kamiya

Digimon Partner: Agumon
Age: 11
Tai is the leader of the DigiDestined in Digimon Adventure and the leader of the senior group in Digimon Zero Two. He is the older brother to Kari Kamiya.

As a leader, he often acts first without realizing the consequences of his actions. This has led him to moments of friction and guilt between his best friend Matt Ishida, his oldest friend Sora Takenouchi, as well as his Digimon partner Agumon. However, he manages to do whatever is necessary to rectify the situation, and in times of need, save friends and family from certain doom. He is the bearer of the Crest of Courage. His representative color is Orange and elemental affinity is fire.
The adventurous leader of the group, Tai was always the first to jump into action though it often throws him into the path of danger. Agumon was the first Digimon to digivolve into Champion form, Greymon. However, his ambition to get Agumon to digivolve into Ultimate form soon gets him into trouble. He first overstuff Agumon with food. During their next battle, Tai delibrately walks into danger, knowing that Greymon would digivolve since he is in trouble. However, Greymon instead digivolves into SkullGreymon, his virus counterpart, and causes disaster, rampaging around and taking out Garurumon, Birdramon and Kabuterimon before regressing into an exhausted Koromon. As a result, both of them lose their confidence until Piximon comes by and helps them out. They realize that they need to keep strong and always come back after suffering defeat.

In the final battle with Etemon, Tai sees his crest of courage glowing and once again walks towards danger. Greymon is right behind him. This time, Greymon succeeds, digivolving into MetalGreymon and destroying Etemon. However, Etemon's destruction results in the formation of a dimensional warp. Tai and MetalGreymon enter the warp, which causes them to go back to the Real World and enables Tai to go home. Tai is having a blast, sitting back and relaxing, but when the news comes on he recognizes several Digimon in the Real World. He gets a message from Izzy, who warns him not to come back to the Digital World, but Tai knows that he must get back to fix the balance. When Tai sees Ogremon, Koromon digivolves into Agumon and a dimensional wrap opens. Agumon and Tai get sucked through and once again reenter the Digital World.
Upon his re-entry, Tai finds it in severe disarray. Time moves much quicker, and months have passed in the Digital World. The entire team has broken up and are moving their separate ways. Tai first locates T.K. and later connects with Matt and Joe in a diner. Piece by piece, he gathers the group up together.

By now, Myotismon has emerged as the next great threat, and he is in search of the eighth DigiDestined child. The DigiDestined pursue him to the Real World. Wizardmon finds the crest and the digivice and unites Kari and Gatomon. Gatomon digivolves into Angewomon and defeats Myotismon, but he comes back as VenomMyotismon. One of the DigiDestined believes that the key to defeating VenomMyotismon is to have Angemon and Angewomon shoot Tai and Matt with arrows of light. Both of them agree, and Gabumon and Agumon digivolve into MetalGarurumon and WarGreymon, both of whom defeat VenomMyotismon. The DigiDestined are shocked to see the Digital World appear in the sky. All eight of them open another warp and go back to the Digital World to restore the balance.

The Dark Masters emerge as the major enemy, and it is revealed that they were the ones who warped and rebuilt the Digital World. During this portion, Matt and Tai develop serious rifts in their friendship, which culminates into a major battle involving their Mega level Digimon. Matt leaves the group for a short while to reevaulate his place in the group. After defeating three of the four Dark Masters, Tai gets everybody together as one group to battle Piedmon, the last of the four. Showing true foresight, he refuses to allow any of the others digivolve in the battle against LadyDevimon, Piedmon's bodyguard, because he wants to save their strength for the ultimate battle. He also sends Sora and T.K. to round up Mimi, Joe, and Matt, all of whom left the group to find themselves. In the end, they triumph over Piedmon, but it takes the digivolution of Angemon into MagnaAngemon to do it. He leads the group against Apocalymon. Once he is defeated Tai and the others have to say goodbye to their Digimon friends.

Throughout the course of the programme he gradually realizes to be a true leader he must have the others' confidence and use empathy rather than reckless courage.

Sora Takenouchi

Digimon Partner: Biyomon
Age: 11
Sora is a very reliable person and tries to take care of the other kids. Her father works as a professor. She lives only with her mother, a famous flower arranger. Sora is the bearer of the Crest of Love.

Sora became very tomboyish. She played on the soccer team with Tai Kamiya. She had a few issues with her mother, who wanted Sora to quit soccer and study the art of flower arranging, and her absent father Haruhiko. But it was thanks to Biyomon that Sora and her mother made peace. Sora can be seen as like her mother in many ways, such as a tendency to be almost overprotective of everyone else. She tries to put everything on herself, even when she cannot handle it, which leads her to eventually trap herself in a dark cave like Matt Ishida, who along with Joe Kido, eventually helps her to escape. Sora is eleven years old (the same age as Tai and Matt) and in the fifth grade. She holds the Crest of Love. She is by and large seen as the down-to-earth character who serves as a motherly figure to various characters, the two younger children and Mimi Tachikawa in particular. It is vaguely hinted in the first season that Tai has a little bit of a crush on her.

TK Takaishi

Digimon Partner: Patamon
Age: 8
T.K. was the youngest DigiDestined up until Kari appeared about halfway through the series. He was a bit of a crybaby from the start, though he later learns some bravery and helps the others when he can. He looks up to his older brother Matt, however, proves himself to be fairly independent on his own, rebuffing his older brother Matt's attempts to comfort and coddle him. He is partnered up with Patamon.

T.K., the younger brother of Matt Ishida and was too young to remember his parents' divorce clearly so he is not as affected by it as much as Matt is. T.K. is glad when he gets to see his dad and he doesn't mind living with his mom.

Mimi Tachikawa

Digimon Partner: Palmon
Age: 10
Mimi is partnered with Palmon and often talks of shopping and fashion. Mimi is also known to be flirtatious, hot-headed, and rather spunky. She is partnered to Palmon and is the bearer of the Crest of Sincerity.

She has the Crest of Sincerity in the dub, which activates during a battle in which Togemon battles against DarkTyrannomon. She is ten years old and in the fourth grade. She comes from a loving family that never seems to have any problems. After looking at them, it is fairly easy to see where she gets her seemingly carefree attitude from; they're very emotional expressive people who openly show their love for each other in all the possible ways.

Despite being horribly out of touch with reality at points, Mimi is arguably one of the most realistic and feeling characters of the first season, as she demonstrates near the end of the series when she decides (temporarily) that she can't fight alongside the other Digidestined after seeing a lot of the friends they made earlier die for their sake. She has a very strange tendency to flirt with Joe Kido, especially near the end of the season, but does not ever get together with him. Her closest friend in the group appears to be Sora Takenouchi, who seems to be the first one to comfort her in most situations that scare her, and is the main reason that she came to her senses at one point where she manages to influence a group of Geckomon to treat her as a princess and then throws both Tai and Joe in the dungeon when they try to make her stop.

Joe Kido

Digimon Partner: Gomamon
Age: 12
Joe is a worrywart often saying he’s allergic to everything, it is briefly hinted that there is some romantic interest between him and Mimi.

In the Japanese anime, Joe has one brother named Jim. Joe's father planed on the boys to each become a doctor, a tradition which had existed since the Edo period. Joe is the bearer of the Crest of Reliability.

Joe was a little bit nervous at the beginning but thanks to Gomamon, Joe becomes a calmer person. He wants to protect the others because, as the oldest, he feels responsible. Due to the fact that he has the Crest of Reliability he gained a nickname 'Old Reliable'. He is always studying because he wants to be a doctor.

Izzy Izumi

Digimon Partner: Tentomon
Age: 10
Izzy is the holder of the crest os Knowledge in the adventure season. Izzy is mostly known, for his computer skills, he also has a very smart digimon, Tentomon

Izzy and Tentomon have been together from the start. Izzy is one of those short kids, who would do anything for the newest computer software! He always has his laptop, and never forgets it! Izzy, is a kind gentile kid, he never is mean or rude, he is always there for others, and making learning more about the digital world as ever!

When Izzy first met Tentomon, he was only Montimon then, and he did not freak out as many of the 7 did. He talked calmly about them, while making suggestions of how they where related to the digivice.

Izzy is a type not to let anything let him down, when he found out he was adopted, he did everything he could to make life easier for his adopted mom and dad, he did harder on his school work, and maybe drifted apart from them, but he never wanted that to happen. During a tough time in the human world, Izzy tells them that he new that he was adopted, which made him closer to them as ever!

Kari Kamiya

Digimon Partner: Gatomon
Age: 8
Kari is tai’s younger sister and wasn’t discovered to be a digidestined till towards the end of the series,she is partnered up with gatomon,and has a very kind and friendly personality, she looks up to Tai and will do anything to help others. Kari, by nature, is kind and sweet-hearted, She always looks for the best in people, and avoids fighting them when possible. She can be serious, especially in drastic situations. And no matter what, she is always looking to help others, even when she is very ill. She bears the Crest of Light and her representative color is pink.

When the other DigiDestined were taken to the Digital World from summer camp, Kari was left behind, as she had been at home with the flu. She did not see any of the other DigiDestined except Tai until they came back the same day they left pursing Myotismon. They needed to find the eighth child before he could, and they looked all over, though she was right there in front of them. The next day, she met Gatomon. Gatomon felt oddly attracted to Kari, only to learn later that night that they were partners. When Myotismon closed Odaiba from the rest of the world, Kari turned herself in to stop the pain his minions were inflicting. However, even with Gatomon, Kari still didn't have her Digivice and Crest of Light until Tai and Wizardmon gave them to her. After Myotismon was dealt with, Kari was eventually able to help the other DigiDestined save the Digital World.
